Rugby Independent Spiritualist Church was opened in the late 1800's by its founder Mr H Goodwin who lived in the New Bilton Area of Rugby. The Church members used to meet at a house in York Street also in New Bilton later transferring to larger premises owned by The Co-operative Society in Sheep Street Rugby.
In 1931 Mr Goodwin remortgaged his house so that they could buy our present building, also owned at that time by R.C.S. It was originally used to stable the horses and for delivering bread and coal.
In the 1980's big changes were made to the building which by now had become quite rundown and was badly in need of a face-lift. Funds were raised through several means; jumble sales, special events and private readings. Eventually enough money was raised to put on a new roof, rebuild inside, pebble dash outside and put in new doors and windows. New floor tiles were added, the church was redecorated and new chairs were purchased resulting in the warm and inviting church that welcomes all who pass through its doors. Our Church was founded on love and integrity which still holds true to this day.
We hold regular Sunday Services, healing services, clairvoyant evenings, indulgence evenings, private readings and special events with guest mediums from all over the country. We also run a twice monthly open circle for those wishing to explore and develop their own spiritual awareness.
Rugby Independent Spiritualist Church is very much a community church and is proud to support and donate to several charities which include The Acorn Trust and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
